Schools of Tomorrow and Whole Education to Unite in Landmark Move for Education Innovation
Date 28 Apr - 6:57 am

July 2026 merger set to strengthen national network supporting schools and young people and create a stronger voice for change across the education system.

After several years of successful partnership, Schools of Tomorrow and Whole Education have announced plans to unite as a single organisation from July 2026 — marking a significant step forward in their shared mission to transform education.

The newly combined organisation will operate under the Whole Education banner, led by CEO Shonogh Pilgrim. Two directors from Schools of Tomorrow will join the existing Whole Education board, ensuring continuity and supporting strategic leadership.

At the heart of the new structure will be a dynamic innovation network, jointly led by Schools of Tomorrow council members and elected representatives from the Whole Education network. Supported by two current Schools of Tomorrow directors, this network will enhance and extend Whole Education’s established programmes and school partnerships.

Megan Thoms, National Programme Manager for Schools of Tomorrow, will transition into the new organisation, continuing to lead the pioneering Ambassadors of Tomorrow student leadership programme—now set to reach an even wider national audience.

Both organisations believe the merger will deliver a stronger, more cost-effective offer for schools, combining their respective expertise and influence to create a more powerful, connected network for change across the education system.

Shonogh Pilgrim, CEO of Whole Education, said: “From our very beginnings, Whole Education has convened networks from across the education sector to share practice and collaborate in search of a thriving future for all. We are pleased to be bringing together our members with the exceptional schools who form the Schools of Tomorrow network because we know that together they will be able to be an even greater force for good in our system. Both organisations come with a rich heritage of innovation and we are excited to be able to weave this together for the benefit of schools, their communities and society. In her poem, Turning to One Another, Margaret Wheatley reminds us to treasure curiosity over certainty and to invite everybody who cares to work on what is possible. We look forward to doing that together.”

Malcolm Groves, Founder Director of Schools of Tomorrow, added:

“The strong alignment of values between our organisations, and the synergy we have built in recent years, creates a rare opportunity for meaningful impact. By combining our four quadrant model for school purpose with Whole Education’s philosophy of rigorous holistic education, we are equipping leaders with powerful tools to shape a better future for all young people.”
