Malcolm has over 40 years experience at the forefront of educational innovation, embracing primary and secondary education, youth work and adult education. He has been a registered OFSTED inspector, local authority inspector, school improvement partner, NPQH assessor, and national adviser to SSAT, where among other things he introduced tailored improvement programmes for specialist schools in challenging circumstances, school and community engagement development programmes, and international professional development for teachers. His book 'Regenerating Schools', published by Continuum in 2008, was described by Professor Brian Caldwell as 'outstanding'. With John West-Burnham, he has published Leadership for Tomorrow, Flipping Schools! and most recently So What Now?. He holds a doctorate in education leadership from the University of Warwick and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
